1N Décor is the go-to destination for plush, timeless indoor and outdoor home decor. We specialize in accents, fresh florals, planters, seasonal goods, special gifts & more. Led by long-term Frankfort resident Cindy Morgan, her cultivated assortment is both sophisticated and contemporary.
The process of selecting inventory for our shop takes patience. We seek enthralling characteristics such as weight, detail, the story behind it, and so on. It’s always personal - we envision our pieces on display in someone’s home, who walks past it after two years thinking, “Wow, I still love that.” Uttermost, Revelation, and Nest NEST York are some of the exclusive brands we carry in our selection.
Also, we add our own special touches when the moment is right. Before we built up 1N Décor, we came across a special artist who hand crafts sculptures out of all-natural solid wood, which takes years to prepare, craft, and detail. Later, we ordered a few pieces and they became the attitude and inspiration for our store. Follow the story below...
The Peach & Martini Olives
Hand Crafted, All-Natural Solid Wood
“The wood that serves as the base material for the sculptures is acquired by trees that were previously harvested or downed by natural disasters. Then each raw material is cleaned, trimmed, labeled and prepared for the drying process.
The wood is ready for the next step after a few years in this drying stage. Each individual wood material is shaped using a lathe, a machining tool that performs different functions including rotating it into a cylindrical form. Each cylinder of wood is labeled and dated and continues the drying process for approximately three more years before it is ready to be turned into a sculpture.
After the cylinder of wood has completed drying, the artist starts to transform the log into a basic fruit shape such as a pear, apple, peach, or cherry. The artist gives his attention to the finest detail modeling each piece before it is sanded and sealed.
It usually takes about 8 days for the paint to completely dry before a clear lacquer is used for the finish to give each sculpture that lustrous shine, 10-15 coats are applied."
